From "A Hitch Orchard" by Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: James Henry Hitch resides at Covington, KY. He was at one time a farmer and it is he who now owns the old Hitch homestead. For many years he has now been engaged in concrete construction. He is a Methodist and a Republican. One of his hobbies is fox hunting and he owned several fox hounds. Attends the annual fox meets in the state of Kentucky.

I met this gentleman in the summer of 1931 and although crippled from an automobile accident yet he would ride horse back for short distances and would do stunts remarkable for one of seventy six and lame. He now and again writes poetry. Among other poems is one, "Our Old Home Place". The first and last stanzas follow;

"I see again our old home place, And meet my kindred face to face, And for two days I wander round O'er hill and dales - enchanted ground. And how our thoughts were filled with cheer, By meeting friends and kindred dear, And seeing scenes that doth us bind To joyous days long left behind."

In the Federal Census of 1900, James H. Hitch is listed in Montgomery County, Ohio in a household as follows: - James H. Hitch, born 9/1855 in KY - Malvina Hitch, born 11/1851 in KY - Helen Hitch, born 12/1879 in KY - Louisa Hitch, born 12/1882 in KY - Susanna Hitch, born 2/1893 in KY - Olive Sullivan, born 12/1878 in KY.

In the Federal Census of 1910, James H. Hitch is listed in the household of Thomas T. Harris in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas as follows: - James H. Hitch, age 54, born in KY - Malvina Hitch, age 58, born in KY - Helen Hitch, age 30, born in KY - Susanna Hitch, age 17, born in KY.
