His death certificate says he died April 7 1945 at 3:15 pm of carbon monoxide poisoning due to "pending investigation." He had been living in Wilmington, DE where he died at Garage #4, Jessup Street, for 6 months. He was living at 210 E. 23rd Street there. He is listed as divorced at the time which explains why he is not with the family in Wicomico Co. in the 1940 census.
Charles married Mabel Thomas, daughter of George Wesley Thomas Jr. and Bessie Melina Hopkins, in 1920 in MD. (Mabel Thomas was born in 1901 in MD.)
