William Black

He is listed with his wife as mulatto, ages 76 and 73, respectively, in 1850.

William Black wrote his will on Nov 19 1838 and it was proven on Aug 1 1854 in Somerset Co., MD (so he likely died shortly before then). It is paraphrased as follows:

- Give to my beloved wife Elizabeth 1/3rd part of my land and personal estate for her natural life.
- To so Curtis, 11a of land where Isaac crouch formerly lived which I purchased from Anthony B. Bennett
- To son Hezekiah all the remainder of my lands provided he has heirs, if no heirs, then the lands go to my grandson Samuel Black, son of my daughter Harriett Black. Hezekiah also to get all of my personal estate
- Son Hezekiah shall be executor to my estate
- To son George, the amount of his debts due to me
- To son Henry, the amount of his debts due to me
- To son Severn, the amount of his debts due to me
- To each of my daughters, the sum of 25c

William married Elizabeth (Betsy) Stanford? about 1796 in Somerset Co., MD. (Elizabeth (Betsy) Stanford? was born in 1777 in Somerset Co., MD ² and died in 1854-1859 in Somerset Co., MD.)
