John C. (Jack) Howard
Stockton, MD-John C, "Jack" Howard, Jr. 90, passed away peacefully at his Stockton home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Born in Greenbackville, VA, on May 13, 1925, he was a son of the late John C. Howard, Sr. and Pauline Skeeter Howard. Following high school graduation he served in the U.S. Navy, where he received radar training and served onboard the USS Phoenix as the radar tracking operator. Following his naval service he pursued a career as a radar engineer at Wallops Island, working for NASA and several contractors including MIT, Johns Hopkins APL Jack had served as the MYF leader and Sunday school teacher at Wesley United Methodist Church in Stockton, past Chief of the Stockton Vol. Fire Dept. and was an active PTA member of Snow Hill schools. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 70 years, Ruth Ward Howard, three daughters, Paula H. Lamberston (Bruce), Pam Howard, Joyce H. Feetham (Mike) and Jacqueline H. Elliott (Jeff) one son, John C. Howard, III (Doreen), eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and other extended family members. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rae Matthews. A funeral service, officiated by the Pastor Bob Miller, will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Franklin City Cemetery in Stockton, MD. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
