John Truitt's father being George Truitt comes from the 1850 Census where he is listed as John Truitt "of Geo." The lands he bequeathed are lands in Worcester that border Wicomico in the very SE corner of the latter.
John Truitt wrote his will on Aug 2 1853 and it was probated in Worcester Co., MD on Mar 24 1857:
- To eldest son James P. Truitt, $1 on nothing else
- To 2nd son, Edward, $1 and no more
- To 3rd and 4th sons, Lemuel S. and Rufus M., tenants in common on all the land I now reside called Little Neck Enlarged on the Pocomoke River in Worcester containing 150a, also part of tract Tribulation containing 10a
- To dear wife Narcissa Truitt, rest of estate during her widowhood or life
- To daughters, Mary D. Donaway (wife of Thomas Donaway) and Sally C. Dennis (widow of Henry J. Dennis), the same
