On Nov 11 1720, the tract YARMOUTH was sold by Samuel Russell, weaver, eldest son and heir of Samuel Russell, dec'd, et ux. Anne Russell to Peter Claywell (of Accomack), in exchange for 100 ac in Virginia (SoLR-IK:116). NOTE that this establishes the approximate time Peter Claywell relocation from Accomack Co., VA to old Somerset Co. (now Worcester), MD.
Peter Claywell/Clayville had the 230 acre tract LANES (or LAWS) SECURITY surveyed for him on Apr 1 1721 in Somerset Co. (now Worcester). The tract is on the south bank of the Pocomoke River about halfway between Snow Hill and Pocomoke City in the modern day (2025).
On Nov 20 1728, 8.075 acres of the tract KEY ("adjacent to the [Mattapony] landing") was sold by Thomas Layfield, mariner, (heir of father Samuel Layfield, heir of George Layfield who m. the widow of William Stevens) to Peter Claywell (SoLR-TH:091).
On Jun 19 1729, 100 ac of parts of CONVENIENCY and REEDS CONTRIVANCE) was sold by John Onion et ux. Susanna Onion to Peter Claywell. (SoLR-SH:159) - this same land, on May 07 1742 was sold by Peter Claywell, planter, et ux. Lucretia Claywell to Thomas Slocomb, tailor [as SLOCOMBS FIRST PURCHASE] (SoLR-MF:306).
On Jul 08 1737, 175 acres of tract EXON was sold by John Murray, felt maker, et ux. Elizabeth Murray, to Peter Claywell, Jr., planter (SoLR-EI:204). By Mar 04 1743, this was now in Worcester Co. and, 160 acres of it was sold by Peter Claywell, Jr. et ux. Elizabeth Claywell to Alexander Buncle [adj. land formerly of John Devereaux, now right of Alexander Buncle] - that same day, land, 118 ac of CONVENIENCY, 75 ac of EXON, and 30 ac "between the two", but excepting SANDY WHARF was traded from Alexander Buncle, merchant to Peter Claywell, innholder, in exchange for 160 ac of EXON. On Apr 19 1740, Robert Nairn et ux. Jennett Nairn sold part of NAIRNS SECURITY to to Peter Claywell, Sr. (SoLR-MF:146) This tract is adjacent to the tract to the west that Brooks Clayville's farm is in 2025.
