From "A Hitch Orchard," Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: "He is a tall well built, muscular fellow with the bearing of the successful executive - which he is. He received a common school education at Princeton, IN. Very soon after leaving school, he operated a news stand at Princeton for about a year. He then sold out and went into the meat business with his brother Morton, this partnership soon developing into the firm known as HITCH BROTHERS with Allen, Morton, and Horace as owners. He stayed with this firm until World War I broke out and then enlisted in the Signal Corps.

After the war was over he started into the retail meat business on his own account at Princeton, IN which he operated for several years. He finally disposed of his business and entered the employ of the Evansville Packing Co., as salesman. After about a year here he went to work for Miller and Hart, meat packers of Chicago as salesman covering north eastern Illinois and south eastern Wisconsin.

After a year with these people he entered the employ of the A & P Tea Co. He was assistant superintendent in the meat department, at Milwaukee, WI. He was given charge of a few markets at first and his duties increased until he had 27 meat markets under his supervision. He also had charge of several markets in northern Wisconsin at one time. In January 1931, the A & P Tea Co. moved him to St. Louis, MO. where he now (1931) has charge of the meat department.

Horace has a keen, cool, level head and is destined for greater success. He is a devout church member and has always lead an exemplary life. Member of the Methodist Church. He is a thirty second degree Mason, Knight Templer, Past Master of Prince Lodge #231, Masons, Princeton, IN, Past High Priest of Princeton Chapter and Past Eminent Commander of Princeton Commandery. Knight Templar. He is also a member of the Hadi Temple of Shriners. (By one of the family.)"

According to his obituary, he died in a car accident when the car struck an abutment in South Dakota.
