Edwin L. Pitts served as a Private for Company D of the 4th Battalion SC Reserves where he enlisted on Jul 20 1864 at Laurens Courthouse under Lt. McGowan "for the war." On Jul 27 1864, the records indicate he was detailed by General Ordnance No. 30 but that was revoked by Gen Jones. He reported for duty on Aug 14 1864 and was listed as "present" in a muster for Nov/Dec 1864.

Edwin married Catherine Harris Boyd, daughter of James Boyd and Elizabeth Curtis Parks, about 1844.
