Joseph Hazzard
24 February 1791
Whereas I have given to my three sons; Cord, John and William Hazzard; goods that were put into their possession near the time of their marriages. Such as household goods, Negroes, hogs, cattle and sheep. I have also conveyed, by three deeds, three parcels of land and marsh
To son Joseph Hazzard - Negro boy named Jacob. Also 12 cattle, 12 sheep and 12 hogs. Also 6 chairs, one good table, 2 pewter dishes, case of knives and forks, plough, ox yoke, horse, bridle, saddle and cart. Also a parcel of land whereon my building now stands. This being the middle division of the island purchased of the Fishers. Beginning at a bridge on Brites Gut at a corner of William Hazzard's dividend and then running the several courses of Brite's field through the middle of the south side of the Great Island that I now live on and then running to the corner of the little pasture standing on the Broadkiln Creek and down the creek to the mouth of a great gut (called Logwood Gut) nearest to the Green Island and up the gut to the beach sands at the head of the gut and then to east corner of the dividend of Cord Hazzard's marsh and with Cord's line to a corner white oak standing in a place known as Town Woods between Cord Hazzard's and John Hazzard's. Also to Joseph, a piece of woodland containing 18 acres adjoining the northwest side of my son Cord's plantation. If he should not have issue, he is not to dispose of the lands without obtaining leave of his brothers and sisters. If Joseph should die without issue, then the property to be divided between Cord Hazzard, John Hazzard, Rachel Wiltbank and also my three grandchildren who are to have a fourth share between them. The grandchildren being Cord, Simpson and Hannah Hazzard (heirs of my deceased son William Hazzard)
To daughter Rachel Wiltbank - the female Negroes named Tamer, Levinah, Leah whom she now has in her possession. Also the household goods, cattle and sheep that she now has
