Sarah Hitch wrote her will on November 19, 1889. It was probated in Kent County, Delaware on August 18, 1891 (Kent Co., Delaware Wills, 1889-1892). A transcription follows:

"I Sarah Hitch of the Town of Milford in the County of Kent and State of Delaware; being somewhat advanced in age, and enfeebled in body, but blest with sound and disposing mind and memory, and wishing to make a disposition of all the Real and pursonal property that it has pleased the Benificent Creator to bestow on me, I make and publish this as my last will and testament, Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved husband Spencer Hitch all my Real and personal property, during his natural life, by he paying all my just debts, and funeral expenses. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally hitch, one hundred and fifteen dollars, ‘$115.00' the same being a lien on my Real and personal property, at the death of my siad usband, my sons Thomas Alexander and Isaac D. Alexander havinf each had that amount from my Estate. Item: At the death of my said husband I give bequeath and devise all the residue after paying said Legacy to my said daughter Sally out of my estate to my children Namely Thomas Alexander, Isaac D. Alexander and Sally Hitch Equally, share and sahre alike. Item: I hereby appoint, constitute and ordain my said husband, Spencer Hitch, Administrator to this my last Will and testament, on this half sheet of paper. In Witness Whereof, I the above named testatrix have hereunto set my hand and seal this Nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eigh hundred and Eighty nine, ‘A.D. 1889.'
