His obituary appeared in the "Baltimore Sun" on May 23, 1984 as follows: Services for Grover H. Hitch of Queenstown a former administrator with the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn will be held 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Helfenbein Funeral establishment in Chester.
Mr. Hitch, a former resident of Glen Burnie, died Monday (5/21) in St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson after a long illness. He was 71. A native of White Hall, IL, Mr. Hitch retired in 1968 after 32 years with the SSA. He moved to Maryland in 1936 after attending Browns Business School in Alton, IL.
Four years later, he married the former Doris Alma Dean who survives him. In 1975, he and his wife moved from Glen Burnie to Queenstown. Mr. Hitch, who served in the Army during WWII was an active member of the American Legion. He was past commander of the SSA American Legion. He. . . .
Survivors include daughter D. Audrey Hiebler of Catonsville and brother Clyde P. Hitch of Alton, IL and two grandchildren.
