The Dorchester County, Maryland Marriage Records state that Albert J. Hitch, age 32, married Carrie K. Hackett, age 19 on January 28, 1878 at W. Chapel by Reverend William H. Lane.

This may be the same Albert Hitch in the Federal Census of 1870 listed in Henry County, Missouri (page 283, Grand River Township) as follows: - Albert Hitch, age 24, farm laborer, born in DE.

The Federal Census of 1880 lists Albert Hitch in Dorchester County in Vienna in a household as follows: - Albert Hitch, age 34, born in DE - Carrie K. Hitch, age 21, born in MD - Mira V. Hitch, age 1, born in MD - Charles B. Boston, age 37, born in MD

Albert J. Hitch's obituary was included in the January 24, 1913 edition of the "Democrat and News" (Cambridge, Maryland) and states: "Albert J. Hitch, aged ca. 65 died at his home on Market Street in Vienna Tuesday at 5:30pm." The article further states he was born near Laurel, Delaware and leaves wife, the former Miss Carrie Hackett and 3 children; Mrs. R. Lee Glover of Hurlock, Vernon A. Hitch of Vienna, Miss Susie Hitch of Vienna and a brother Arthur Hitch of Seaford, DE.

In his will written on July 21, 1896 and probated on January 30, 1913, Albert J. Hitch (of Vienna, Maryland) mentions wife Carrie K. Hitch and administrator Vernon A. Hitch. Witnesses were James A. Higgins, William T. Post, and R. Watson Webb. (Dorchester Co., MD Wills, Liber RPS #1, Folio 464)
