From Find-A-Grave: John is the son of Charles Wesley Shiles and Mamie C Saxty and the husband of E. Maybelle Collingwood, daughter of William James Collingwood Find A Grave Memorial 69060895 and Jennie Wilson Collingwood Find A Grave Memorial 69061615. It has been told me that John and Maybelle had two sons. I know only of one William Charles Shiles, Find A Grave Memorial 116339352. John was in the Naval Reserves and served in WWI. He later worked for the government as a printer in Washington DC.

The director who handled his funeral - Hardesty Funeral Home Annapolis, MD. Cedar Hill Crematory, Suitland PG, MD handled his cremation. His remains were given to the family per funeral home.

Funeral Services for John Wesley Shiles _____ employee of the Government Printing Office in Washinton, DC will be held at 3 pm Sunday from the Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave. The Rev R Dennis Schulze, pastor of Mayo Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be private. Mr Shiles, 79, died yesterday at his home in Edgewater. He was born in Washington DC. Mr Shiles was a veteran of World War 1. He is a member of the Typographical Union; member of Cummings-Behike Post 226, American Legion; and member of the National Association of the 42nd Rainbow Division Veterans of the District of Columbia Chapter. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 7:30 pm, conducted by the American Legion Post.
